Abu Dhabi, [November 4th, 2025]
Masdar City, Abu Dhabi’s flagship sustainable urban development and a global hub for innovation in climate solutions, has signed an exclusive agreement with Eedama to deliver sustainability outreach and education programs.
For more than a decade, Masdar City has been home to a thriving ecosystem of businesses, research institutions, and social enterprises shaping the future of sustainable living. This new agreement builds on a long-standing relationship with Eedama, founded in Masdar City in 2015, and reflects the City’s strategic commitment to advancing community engagement, fostering environmental awareness, and providing immersive learning experiences for visitors from around the world. From guided tours showcasing cutting-edge green technologies to interactive workshops that bring sustainability concepts to life, Masdar City offers a destination where innovation creates real-world impact and inspires the next generation of changemakers.
“Masdar City is a living laboratory where ideas become action,” said Dr. Mohamed Al Breiki, Executive Director of Sustainable Development at Masdar City. “For over a decade, we have welcomed students, professionals, and visitors from across the globe to experience firsthand how sustainable urban development works in practice. Together, we will expand opportunities for people to explore the City, learn from its technologies, and participate in programs that align with the UAE’s long-term sustainability goals.”
Eedama is a sustainability education and social enterprise whose name comes from the Arabic verb “to make it last.” Since hosting its first summer camp in August 2015, it has grown into a regional leader in experiential sustainability learning, active across the UAE, Lebanon, France, and the Gulf region. Based in Masdar City since its inception, Eedama has delivered more than 825 workshops and engaged over 57,000 participants from 40 countries, turning abstract sustainability concepts into tangible, practical experiences. Together, Masdar City and Eedama have reached 8,600 students through school visits, 3,500 adults through corporate and university programs, and thousands of visitors through community engagement initiatives.
Eedama is also a certified member of Ma’an, the Authority of Social Contribution in Abu Dhabi, which fosters social responsibility and community engagement in partnership with government and third-sector organizations. This collaboration builds on the Department of Community Development MoU and supports the UAE’s national strategies, including Vision 2031, the UAE Green Agenda 2030, and the Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative.
“This agreement not only celebrates our 10-year journey but also opens a new chapter of development,” said Dr. Ounsi El Daif, CEO of Eedama. “Masdar City has been our home since day one, and together we are committed to inspiring the next generation of changemakers through innovative, experiential learning.”
Masdar City and Eedama invite schools, universities, corporations, and visitors from around the world to explore the City, take part in its programs, and experience sustainability in action. Launched in alignment with the UAE’s Year of Community 2025, this partnership reinforces a shared commitment to engage communities, empower future leaders, and drive meaningful change for the environment and society. Together, Masdar City and Eedama aim to create lasting impact that benefits both people and the planet, while showcasing Abu Dhabi’s leadership in sustainable urban development and community-driven progress.
